Postby Admin » Mon Apr 27, 2015 8:20 pm

Today I am going to show you how to make a bootable USB Windows stick. This for those people who don't have a DVD/CD-Rom drive. How else are you going to reformat and install windows? Easy by using this guide I can show you how to make a bootable USB stick. Which will allow to boot Windows from a USB Flash Drive or SD Card.

Things you would need:
* USB Flash drive or SD/SDHC/MMC USB card reader with SD card. Depending on the Windows Image at least 4GB or higher to be safe
* A Windows ISO Image I.E. "Windows 7,Vista Windows 8,8.1"
* ZOTAC WinUSB Maker,Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool or another program in the link.

First what you would need to do is. Download the ZOTAC WinUSB Maker from link below Then you would need un zip ZOTAC WinUSB Maker program

Second you need to have your USB Flash drive or SD Card formatted to NTFS. Easy to format it to NTFS. Go to My Computer or Computer select your drive letter. Highlight it and right click format. Then from here you can select NTFS format. Note: I wouldn't do the quick format. I found it better works to do a full format. Your USB Flash card or SD Card prepped for making boot from Windows. Once you have everything ready for making a USB bootable stick. Open up the ZOTAC WinUSB Maker program where ever you un zipped it from. This is a portable program that allows to make your USB Flash drive or SD Card boot from Windows.

Now select the drive you will be working with. Drag over the SD Card or USB Flash drive letter into ZOTAC WinUSB Maker. Once you have done that it will ask you to drag and drop your ISO or DVD drive letter into ZOTAC WinUSB Maker. Drag and drop pretty simple.

After it detected your Windows OS. Click the box Make USB bootable. It will pop up a warning you will lose all your stuff. Go ahead and click yes to start the process. This may take awhile depending on the Windows Install.

When it is finished now you have a nice little Windows install from USB. Note: Make sure your computer can boot from USB in the BIOS. Then you can start the process of using your USB Flash Drive to reinstall or install Windows. I used this method on my computer using Windows SuperAIO v3 83-in-1 (7 8 2008r2 2012 8.1 2012r2) en-US DaRT7-8.1
